A trip to see Connie’s mom and a house exchange in MAryland

Built around a house exchange in Columbia Maryland, our trip included social events with Mom and many of her friends and relatives in this area.  We spent our first week with Mom in her lovely new 2 bedroom apartment at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community, performing for her new friends here and hosting a Valentine’s Day luncheon featuring Danish open-face sandwiches.

In November, Alexis had spent time with her gramma and also gave a viola performance which was very well received.  So never to be out-done by our daughter, we presented an evening of Connie playing the piano and me talking about my Chamber Singers tours and playing recordings. The 50 or so people were very appreciative but several expressed disappointment, wanting to know why the young woman with the viola didn’t perform also.  Mom travelled with us to our house exchange in Columbia.  We visited cousin Margo in Baltimore for her birthday and hosted a group of 7 relatives for dinner one night in Columbia.  We met another 12 at a restaurant on the eastern shore the next Saturday for lunch.  The rest of our time was spent visiting DC and Baltimore and putting the final touches on my book The Conductor is the One in Front, being printed next month.
