Kirk McNally, born in Burlington, Ontario, studied music and sound recording at McGill University (B.Mus 1998, M.Mus 2000). His teachers included Gerald Danovitch, Wieslaw Woszczyk, George Massenburg and Steven Epstein. As a recording engineer he has worked with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Tanglewood, Reaction Studios in Toronto, The Warehouse Studios and Amoury Studios, both in Vancouver. His recording credits include R.E.M, Bryan Adams, Sloan, Matthew Good, and most recently, The Aventa Ensemble’s ‘LE SIGNE DU LION - the music of Gilles Tremblay’, released on the Centrediscs / Centredisques label. Kirk is a founding member of LUVLEE, (Live University of Victoria Laptop and Electro-acoustic Ensemble) an ensemble dedicated to experimental performances using originally developed technologies. He is a regular collaborator with the School's composers for electronic and electro-acoustic performances.
